Jones was a three-year standout on the men’s basketball team after spending a season on the JV squad. After leading the JV squad in scoring as a freshman, Jones amassed 1,278 points in just three seasons, which sits him seventh all-time in career scoring at the time of his induction. His 617 points during his senior campaign is still the second most for a single season. Jones’ career culminated with his selection as a SUNYAC All-Conference First Team player after being an honorable mention as a junior.
Jones still has a place on the single season records list in field goals made – second (233), free throws made – fourth (139) and points per game – second (22.0). He is still in the top-10 in career field goals (478), free throws (309) and points per game (16.2).
Following graduation, Jones was part of the Washington Generals basketball team and toured with the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters. He spent six months touring 30 states in the US and internationally in the West Indies and Mexico City.
Jones graduated with a degree in Business Economics and currently works for Plug Power International located in the Albany, NY area which is a supplier of batteries that power forklifts. Previously he spent time working for the Albany Times Union newspaper as a mailer.
