Clair Jacobsen

Jacobsen, who will be inducted posthumously, made his mark at Oneonta in the sports of Basketball and Baseball. In basketball he played on the team all four years and was the leading scorer of the 1949-50 squad that completed a 19-1 season. During the 1950-51 season he played eight games and averaged 17.6 points per game.  He finished his career averaging 12.5 points with a career-high of 33 points in a game against Harpur College. As a member of the baseball team Jacobsen was 4-1 and hit .333 as a senior helping the team finish 9-3 overall.  As a freshman, he was 4-0 on the mound for the Red Dragons.

Jacobsen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and spent 32 years in the New Berlin Central School teaching sixth grade and coaching at the high school.

Jacobsen also developed a 40-acre lake in the town of Laurens named Larchwood Lake and built Cee Jay Golf Course, now called Colonial Ridge, from scratch.
